Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Week 168!

I got my hair cut this week, and I love it right after I’m done styling it. Then, because it’s so thin and fine, the style disappears within a few minutes. So, if anyone has any tips for holding or has a fabulous hairspray that isn’t really wet, I’d love to know! I spend way too much time taking care of my hair. I can do my makeup (not my skincare) in about ten minutes tops. But, the hair…way too much time! Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I am always aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?

As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Wendy from Taking the Long Way Home.

Wendy says, “Hi, I’m Wendy, I’ve been a runner for many years and have shared my adventures on this blog for the past ten years or so. Running is my passion and it’s been such a gift, bringing not only confidence and fitness into my life but also some really amazing people. Although I’m no longer running long distance races, I’m still lacing up and putting in the work. Most of my miles have moved to the dirt – for the past 6 years, I’ve been spending most of my time on trails. I also enjoy strength training/CrossFit, yoga, and waterskiing. Come along for a run with me!” Please visit Wendy’s blog here, and tell her we sent you!

  2. Since I use a curling tong my jaipur is not a issue anymore. I use it once a week and my hair stays good all week without much products in it. Maybe you could try that? Thanks for hosting!

    • Thanks, Nancy! I use a curling iron, and within an hour, my hair is usually flat! My hair honestly just doesn’t hold a curl unless I spray the heck out of it! I bought one of those fancy Dyson air curlers for $$$$. I tried it for about a week and took it back. Luckily, I bought it at Nordstrom which is really wonderful about returns. I did feel badly because I’m sure the sales associate gets something for those sales. But, it was pricey. If it hadn’t been, I would have kept it.

  3. Aww, thanks so much for featuring my Style Imitating Art post! It’s always such a honor to be a featured blogger! I’m like you, my make up takes about 8 minutes and I find that’s too long! LOL Since I don’t do much with my hair, that’s a very quick process as well. I’ve never understood people who take hours to get ready for the day. My entire process from the start of my shower to completely dressed with makeup on and hair done is about 30-35 minutes. If I’m getting dressed for a style challenge, it might take an extra 10-15 minutes to work out the details. My morning coffee takes twice as long as my getting ready routine! LOL Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

    • Hahaha!! I would drive you nuts! When I have the luxury of time, I can take anywhere from one to two hours getting ready. Part of that is because I’m watching YouTube videos (usually Bailey Sarian or Arne and Carlos) so I’m starting and stopping constantly. My hair is thin, but it’s porous, I think. It takes me about five minutes to dry what little I have. OK, well, I just gained some time because I don’t drink coffee!! Thanks, Shelbee!

  4. I have to admit I just brush my hair and that’s it. Unfortunately I can’t give you any tips.
    Have a great weekend!

    • Thanks, Cat! Ah, but I think you have glorious lush hair, right? If I could just brush it, I’d be happy! Do you ever braid it, or do you always wear it down long?

      • Not sure if glorious and lush are the words I’d use, but I’m usually happy with it. I used to braid it sometimes to get it out of the way, but haven’t done for a long time. It was never one of those fancy braids, though.

        • Any kind of braid is fancy to me! My hair won’t stay in a braid because it’s so thin, fine, and soft. My daughter’s is the same way, but her daughter (my oldest granddaughter) has the thickest, curliest hair. My younger granddaughter has hair kinda in between mine and her cousin.

  5. My son was talking about how he wished he didn’t care about his hair that much. He had curls and likes them a certain length so he doesn’t fuss with them.

    • Thanks, Mireille! My grandson has curly-ish hair. He’s a swimmer so hairstyles are a bit of a thing with the team. They grow their hair long, then they bleach it, then they shave it off. It’s such a thing! I do hope your son finds a style that he likes and works for him for a bit.

  6. I feel you! My thin fine hair also gives me angst at times, Marsha! I bought a thermal brush and use that when I dry my hair. That seems to add body at the crown of my hair but, like you, it doesn’t always last! I’ll be curious to see what tips you get! Thanks so much for the party. We always love seeing what you are up to and we were especially thrilled to see our “Spray Bottle Fun!” post featured. THANK YOU! Have a great weekend!

    • Thanks, Laura! That is exactly my problem! I can get it to do something for a little bit, but it quickly goes flat and limp. If I use a ton of products in it, I have better luck. But, my stylist says that’s drying my hair out. It’s a no win situation, I do believe! I’m so glad you link up with us! How could I not include that fun post! It was awesome!

  7. My hair gets big and bushy if I don’t cut it but everytime I go to a salon they don’t do what I want. This time I had it chopped shorter and she didn’t give me bangs and when I asked she said they were there…just long. I went home and cut them myself and as I did it, I realized I had done the same thing the last time I went to her. I think I need a new hairdresser.

    • Oh, it does sound like you do need a new hairdresser. One of the tips I’ve heard for finding a new one is to find one with hair just like yours. Then, they know what you’re dealing with. I have yet to see a hairdresser with limp, fine hair like mine!

  8. Thank you so much for hosting this wonderful link party!
I hope that you are having a blessed weekend!
    Angie
    PS My linkups this week are 59, 60, 61 & 62
