Week 158!
I hope all is going well in your part of the world. I finished planting all my flowers and plants today. I didn’t plant near as many as I usually do. My heart just isn’t in it these days. I do need to get some more perennials for the hump to make that look nice. The HOA landscapers sprayed for weeds last week or the week before. Now, my roses look puny as well as my birch tree has dropped lots of leaves. I did text the guy, but, as usual, I got no response. I don’t like to be that kind of person, but I want them to know what’s happening with what they’re spraying on our yards. I can’t believe it hasn’t happened anywhere else in the neighborhood. Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I am always aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?
As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Linda from Bushel & a Pickle.

Linda says, “I live in Central Pennsylvania in a very, very old farmhouse. Bushel & a Pickle is my blog. Sharing my life experiences that incudes home, food, travel, family and faith is a delight for me. My husband, Jim and I began our life together in Germany over 40 years ago where we both served in the US Army. Little did we know when we arrived to serve in different locations that our paths would cross after a more than a year. We arrived with limited luggage and left 3 years with more luggage and a container shipped with furniture, lots of dishes, Bavarian crystal and art. Bonus, we were not only married; we were pregnant with our first child. Thus began our lives together with many moves and many travels. Though the many moves to military quarters, rentals, apartments and homes making each place a home for our family was a passion of mine. After Jim retired, we moved our family of five to China for a new career. Figuring out how to made our apartments home was a fun challenge of creativity and resourcefulness! We returned with a family of seven! We adopted our two youngest daughters when we lived in China. Read that miracle story HERE. Eventually we returned to our 200 year old PA farmhouse. Our family has been blessed as we grew to include our amazing son in law and 2 wonderfully dear daughters in law and 7 grandchildren.” You can visit Linda here, and please tell her we sent you.

Sorry to hear about the plants Marsha. I didn’t do much in the garden last year because it was in a state. But now it’s been remodelled and I have a blank canvas to play with. Thanks for the link-up
Thank you, Gail! I know you can relate about how I feel about my plants. How beautiful your garden is becoming…I’m writing this after reading your post showing part of the new garden!
My blogger is being super weird so I will be back in the morning to put in the link back – I’m so sorry….(or I’ve lost all my posts, so there’s that possibility too….yikes)
Oh, Lydia!! I hope you can find your posts. That would be devastating. It seems like all the platforms have weird little things going on.
Sorry about your plants. I hate getting no reply to a question!
Have a lovely weekend, Marsha, hopefully not too stressful.
Thanks, Cat! I have now contacted the guy’s wife (who runs the office) and still no response. I think I’ll have to contact the HOA to see if they can get a response.
Oh Marsha, I am so sorry that the pesticides are hurting your plants and trees. That makes me so sad. I thought there were lots of organic pesticides that don’t harm plant life. I guess it’s probably more expensive than the harmful stuff. Ugh. What a world we live in! I hope your rose bushes recover. Have a lovely weekend, my friend!
Shelbee
Thanks, Shelbee! I am just a little bit angry at the owner of the landscaping crew. I’ve contacted both the husband and the wife and haven’t gotten any response. I think I may have to contact the HOA though I hate being that kind of person. I am sure they’ll say it’s the fault of something else, but it’s just too much of a coincidence. I’m hoping everything comes back from it. Have a fabulous rest of the week!
Thank you for another lovely party! Happy end of May.

You are very welcome, Amalia!

I’m so glad you always link up with us, Deb! I hope you have a wonderful rest of this week!
We’ve gotten so much rain the last two weeks! The lawn is green, but needs to be mowed again. My son “bought” a guitar, but still owes us money on it so he will be mowing it for free this week and a couple more weeks! The seeds we planted are sprouting and growing: we’ll soon have some flowers!

Thanks, Mireille! We had been getting rain, but it’s been quite spotty lately. We need a good drenching. I remember the days of the kids “buying” things, but you’re doing a good job of getting it back! I haven’t planted from seeds in so many years. I really should do that more often.
Being outside and planting this time of year is always so lovely and we’ve had lots of rain so everything feels especially lush! I hope you get a response regarding the herbicides – good for you for reaching out! Thanks for hosting us all! We’re thrilled to be one of your features this week and we’re always grateful for your support and kindness! Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead, Marsha!
Thanks, Laura! We had had a lot of rain, but it’s dried up a bit here. Everything is nice and green, though. Well, I still haven’t heard anything back from them. I may just have to take it up with the HOA though I hate being that person! I’m always happy to feature your blog because it’s such a fun one! Have a fabulous week!
Thanks for hosting the party Marsha!
You’re very welcome, Nancy!
I didn’t plant any this year! I just am not in a mood to take care of flowers. I mean I still have the perennials in my flower beds that I check on weekly but i didn’t want any potted annuals that need constant care and watering.
Thanks, Joanne! I thought about skipping it, too, but I also realized the back porch wouldn’t be as welcoming as it is with flowers. All of my perennials are on the side of the house so I don’t see them as much. But, I do like perennials since they’re so easy to take care of. Hardly any of my perennials came up on the hump which makes me sad.
Hi, Marsha. Thank you for hosting this party, appreciated! The link I shared is #58. It’s a fun one for all 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend.
All the best.
Debra @ Life Captured
You’re welcome, Debra! I’m so glad you’re linking up with us!
I’m so sorry to hear about your plants and hope they bounce back! That is so frustrating. Thank you for the shout out!
Thanks, Laura! I’m hoping they do, but they aren’t looking too good. It is really frustrating because the landscapers are so good in other ways.
I’m so sorry about your roses and trees being damaged! That’s not good at all.. I hope you can talk to someone.
I picked those croissant s’mores too….yum!
Thanks, Lisa! It’s kinda the principle of the thing, you know? I just wish they’d respond in some way instead of just ignoring me. I do know they’re very busy, but that’s not how to run a business. I’ve contacted both owners now and may just take it to our HOA board. I hate being that person, but doggone it, those roses, other bushes, and trees were really looking good. They won’t be cheap to replace either should they totally die. I really want to make the croissant s’mores!
