Week 159!
Update on my plants, bushes, and trees…my roses are producing buds, but they are just dead inside. My perennials (bees balm, yarrow, creeping phlox, and echinacea) have pretty much died out. The birch tree continues to lose leaves. I sent a text to the owner’s wife who runs the office. Still no response. I’m not exactly sure what kind of response I want other than maybe an apology. I’m just hoping my roses and tree can pull out of it as well as my creeping phlox. It was growing so well and spreading nicely. Nigel continues to walk more, but now he’s got quite a bit of edema in both legs. The NP told him he needed to move those legs even when sitting. I can’t get it through his noggin that this is not just a cosmetic thing. It’s a heart thing, and he’s got some issues there, too. To cap it all off (pardon the pun), he lost a crown yesterday. The same one he keeps losing. The problem is twofold. Our dentist is on vacation, and he’s not supposed to have any dental work for at least three months. Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I am always aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?
As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Linda from Crafty Gardener.

Linda says, “Welcome, I’m glad you stopped by for a visit. Like life, this site, is a collection of many things. I love crafting and I love gardening … hence my name was created … Crafty Gardener, who in real life is Linda. Now I’m retired I have more time to do all the things I love to do, and I often wonder how I had time to go to work. I’ve been sharing my love of gardening and crafting since my site was established in 2004 with my own domain as a gift from my family. Gardening is just one important part of my life. Family is the most important part. We have been married 50+ years, have 3 beautiful daughters and handsome son-in-laws and four wonderful and energetic grandchildren that keep us smiling and young! If you are looking for help in seed identification you have come to the right place. I’ve been documenting the growth of seeds, seedpods and seedlings of all the plants that grow in my Canadian garden. Check out the plant profiles to see what grows well in our area. There is also crafting, reading, sewing, genealogy, and all the other little things that make our life interesting and important. You can follow the drop down menus at the top of the page to see lots of my ideas, patterns, recipes, books and more. I live close to the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario, Canada, where my garden zone is 5b. Now that is 5b in the Canadian way of determining gardening zone. Don’t get confused with the USDA way in which my garden would be 4b. My gardens are mainly perennial beds with lots of annuals growing in containers. The Crafty Side of me enjoys creating re’find’ things out of used objects. I also love knitting, crochet, plastic canvas and sewing. A lot of my visitors arrive from searching for ideas for covered coat hangers. If you are looking for these patterns you have come to the right place. I love to make things for our grandchildren … 2 boys and 2 girls. I’m becoming an avid photographer … especially all the lens friends we see. One of my latest hobbies is painting rocks, be sure to have a look at some that I’ve created. I got into this when visiting family in British Columbia. This site has been through a few transitions … from an old html Windows based format … to a Blogger format … and now a self hosted format using an iMac. This most recent one caused me a lot of work as each and every page had to be re-published. But it gave me a chance to weed out what didn’t get many visitors and include better photos and information. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I hope you have time to leave a comment and to return again another day. Whether you are reading, commenting or looking for ideas I hope you found something to make you want to return again.” Please check out her blog, and let her know we sent you!

Very nice to meet Linda and her blog! Thanks for hosting Marsha.
You’re welcome, Nancy! There are so many wonderful blogs out there, aren’t there?
I am so sorry about your garden! My roses aren’t doing really well right now either but I’m not sure why. The dandelions, on the other hand, seem to be thriving nicely all over my lawn! I do love a field of dandelions but when they take over my yard I call them Can’t-stand-elions! Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend, my friend.
Shelbee
Thanks, Shelbee! I think the roses are beginning to turn around. I don’t mind dandelions, but they drive Mike nuts! That’s probably what they were spraying for!
It sure would be nice if you’d get a response to your inquiries from your HOA regarding your plants. How frustrating! I hope they are able to take a turn soon, with the help of your green thumb! And, good luck to Nigel! If he has to wait three months for dental work, hopefully he’s not in too much pain right now. He’s had more than his share of challenges – and you, too, Marsha! Thanks, as always, for hosting us all! We appreciate you and your cohosts!
Thanks, Laura! At this point, I’m going to refer it to the HOA. I guess I was supposed to do that from the beginning, but I didn’t know. I’m hopeful, too, as I see some rosebuds that look good now. There were several that just looked dead. Mike got the crown put back in on Wednesday. Luckily, he doesn’t ever have any pain with it. I just think we’ll be in the dentist getting that doggone crown back on more than once before the three months are up. And, you and Laurie are very welcome for the link party!
I’m so sorry for your plants. That must be very frustrating.
Sorry about Nigel’s crown, too. Things always have to happen at the same time very inconviently, don’t they?
I hope you’ll have a lovely weekend regardless.
Thanks, Cat! I think we’ve met that rule of three…where three things go bad, one right after the other. We had a wonderful weekend! I hope yours was, too, and that next week is just as good!
Hi Marsha. Thank you for entertaining me this week! I have shared 29 and 30.
Please bring me up to speed. The text to the owner’s wife, did owner spray Insecticides? I do not have a green thumb. People who take the time to plant around their home and keep them weeded sure have my appreciation. I enjoy their hard work!
Have a fun weekend.
All the best.
Debra @ Life Captured
Thanks, Debra! Yes, I did text both the owner and his wife (who manages the office). I haven’t heard anything from them, but I think it would be more than a coincidence for my bushes, tree, and plants to die right after they’ve sprayed. I love to garden and have only a small bit to garden with so I’m disappointed when one dies.
Thank you so much for making me the featured blogger this week.
You are very welcome!
So sorry to hear how your garden is doing; I assume this is in relation to all the pesticides they sprayed?
Thanks, Joanne! I think it’s a direct result of the weed killer they sprayed. It’s so aggravating that they don’t respond.
Marsha,
My Entries for today’s party are # 52, 53 and 54!!!!
Thanks so much for hosting!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are enjoying your week and you are doing well…
