Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Week 161!

I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Do you ever wonder where in the world that saying came from? I should google it sometime! Well, we had one hail of a hailstorm this week! Then, the forecast was for an even worse night last night. I was a nervous wreck as there’s no way to get Nigel into the crawl space (as if I could get him out, either). He kept saying God would take care of it. I said, “What if God wants us dead?” Well, it ended up being just bad thunderstorms and wind. No hail or tornadoes in our part of the state. It’s so ironic I just wrote about liking thunderstorms, and we had that monster of a hailstorm! You can check it out on my Instagram page here. I went “live” for a bit because it was really something. Anyway, it’s time for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! I am always aiming for 9:30 pm EDT. So, on with the show, right?

As part of our new year reboot, we are now shining the spotlight on a different blogger each week. We invite you to stop by their blog, take a look around and say hello! This week, we spotlight Jennifer from Shoreline Journeys.

Jennifer says, “My family is my strength and supports me on my travel journeys. I met the love of my life & best friend in 1993, we graduated college together, started our grown-up jobs, and were married in 1997. We traveled to Jamaica for our honeymoon and stayed at the Sandals Royal Jamaican (now the Sandals Royal Caribbean) and it started our journey together. Wow, we were so young! Not too long after that we bought our home and started our family. Life was busy and we did most of our traveling within the US for the almost 20 years after we took this picture.

We have 2 amazing sons that make our life exciting and fun. Our oldest has graduated from Penn State University, our youngest from East Stroudsburg University. Throughout the years, we always said that we would go back to Jamaica to celebrate our 20th anniversary. In 2017, we packed our bags and headed back to the Sandals Royal Caribbean where we had an amazing vow renewal ceremony and 5 restful and relaxing nights.

We also have 2 ginger cats that rule our house. I like to say that they deign to let us live here while we cater to their every need. We raised these guys from 3 weeks old and yeah, we let them lord over us. Who can say no to such cute faces? And in case you are wondering, they are named after Fred & George Weasley in the Harry Potter series. They are just as mischievous as their namesakes, but we love them anyway.” Please stop by Jennifer’s blog and tell her we sent you!

  1. Glad it was a thunderstorm and wind, and nothing more. Have a lovely weekend.

  3. Bad thunderstorms do scare me a bit, not that much though. I missed your live! Hahaha, that would be fun! Thanks for hosting!

    • Thanks, Nancy! You can actually find it on my Insta because I saved it as a story. I don’t mind thunderstorms, but when the wind is 80 mph (128.8 km/hr) it’s scary as hell! I’m glad you’re linking up with us!

  4. Oh wow, Marsha, that hailstorm was something else! I do not like thunderstorms at all. I get scared! When Jeff and I lived in our first apartment together, there was a terrible storm with lots of wind. I was home alone because he was away for some Army training. I was on the phone with him complaining that it sounded like the roof was going to blow off. He reassured me that the roof was not going to blow off our very sturdy brick apartment building and right at that moment I heard this terrible screeching sound and looked out the window to see someone else’s roof blowing down the middle of the street! I am glad that you were safe in the storm but so sorry that your plants got beaten up!

    Shelbee

    • Thanks, Shelbee! It was the weirdest thing because my daughter, who lives a few miles north of us, had sunny weather! This was the longest hailstorm I can ever remember, and the hailstones were really big. The piles under our neighbors’ downspouts were there until about noon the next day! Oh, wow! That would have terrified me to see a roof go blowing down the street. I love thunderstorms, but I hate the wind! I was so happy when the next day’s superstorm didn’t materialize!

  5. That was quite a hail storm, Marsha! I’m glad it didn’t morph into something bigger, although hail itself can do quite a bit of damage. My daughter, in Wisconsin, texted Wednesday night that a tornado touched down near her town that evening. Her husband was out of town so she and the Littles hunkered down in the lower level. Sadly, several families a few neighborhoods away from them had heavy damage! It’s been a crazy season thus far! Thanks so much for the party! We always appreciate the opportunity to share! Today we are bringing #29 and #30. Happy Friday!

    • Thanks, Laura! I think this is one of the worst weather years we’ve had in decades. We had tornadoes rip through our old neighborhood and almost destroy homes in April. Then, this weird hail storm. My daughter lives a few miles north of us, and it was sunny there! My poor plants look like they’ve been through it, but I’m sure they will recover. I’m always glad to see you link up!

  6. Marsha,

  7. I’m glad you got off quite easily the second time around!
Hope you’ll have a quiet weekend!

    • Thanks, Cat! I was so relieved when I woke up alive on Thursday…hahaha! The weekend has been quite nice (other than not getting much sleep).

  8. When we went to Pike’s Peak which was a sunny day, when we arrived at the top, the weather was gorgeous (of course it was cool since it’s so high). By the time we left the summit, it had hailed, snowed, rained and there was fog!

  9. Thank you so much for the shout out! Have a great weekend!

  10. Hi there, Marsha. Thank you for entertaining me! My link is 59. I like rainy afternoons. The curling up on the couch, watching a movie and drinking hot chocolate on a rainy day is soothing. Thunderstorms, makes me anxious!
    Have a fun week.
    All the best.
    Debra @ Life Captured

    • You are so welcome, Debra! I’m glad you enjoyed the post and joined in on the link up! I love your idea for rainy days. That also works well for snowy days, but I don’t see any of those in the near future! I hope your week is fantastic!
