Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!

Week #55!

Welcome to another edition of Weekend Traffic Jam. Look for the link up to go live Thursdays at 9:30pm EDT. Melynda, from Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household, Lisa, from Boondock Ramblings, and Sue, from Women Living Well After 50 and I are the hostesses for the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot. Sue’s post goes live in Australia on Friday at 12:30 pm.

How has your week been? I will probably be talking about the eclipse forever! Back in 2017, we were not in the path of totality. In fact, the only way we were able to tell there was an eclipse (without glasses) was to use a colander. If you stand with your back to the sun and hold your colander about 20 inches or so from the ground, the circles will reflect the changes in the “shape” of the sun. So, when I read, way back then, we would be in the path of totality for 2024, I was thrilled. Let me tell you, my friends, it was amazing. I will admit the half hour or so leading up to the actual eclipse was a bit anticlimactic. In fact, you couldn’t really tell any difference in shadows or lighting until the last minute or so before totality. But, when we hit that, it was just jaw droppingly wonderful. Cheers rang out from people in the neighborhood (either ours or the one behind us). Even Nigel admitted it was something to see.

The four of us would like to see the Weekend Traffic Jam grow bigger, so please link up your favorite posts! I’m especially looking at my fashion friends! We are woefully underrepresented in the link up! They can be fashion, DIY, food, lifestyle, travel, you name it! Please visit the other co-hosts as well as two or three of those linked! You just might discover a new blog. I know that’s how I’ve discovered so many and found new friends. And, please spread the word about Weekend Traffic Jam!

  1. I’m glad you were able to have a great experience with the eclipse! I wasn’t in the path of totality, but it was still pretty amazing even at 90%. My husband and son-in-law drove 6 hours away to experience totality and said it was incredible.

    • Wow! I’m not sure I would have driven six hours…well, I would have, but Mike wouldn’t have! We were really lucky to have this happen quite literally in our backyard. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.

      Thanks, Lisa!

  2. Cheers for the shout out! What a lovely surprise! I missed that one with the rainbow platers. off to check that out! Thanks as always for hosting. I’ll be back round in a few weeks

    • You are very welcome, Lydia! I am really going to try to make the rainbow planters. They seem like such a fun way to plant herbs!

  3. Thanks for hosting Marsha and how to see you on my Fancy Friday linkup party!

    • You are so welcome, Nancy! I didn’t make it to your link up because I was just beyond tired this week. I will link up this week!

  4. That blueberry cheesecake ice cream looks amazing!

  5. My daughter lives near you so she was able to see the eclipse as well. She sent me a video of them watching the eclipse and I could hear the cheers of the neighborhood in the background. I take it no one in Indiana went to work on Monday ha ha! Such lovely floral photos this week. Thanks for the party.

    • I know many of the schools in the area were out for the day as they anticipated bad traffic as well as the eclipse happening during dismissal times. It was a really amazing sight. My youngest son had to work as did my daughter. She works for the school system here, but she had to have her work finished and be gone by a certain time. As it turned out, the traffic wasn’t near as bad as they had anticipated.

      Thanks, Amy!

  6. The neighbors lend us their glasses so the boys were able to see some of the eclipse (just partial here like in 2017). It was actually more noticeable when we went to Costa Rica in the fall: there was an eclipse while we were there!).

    • We had that partial eclipse in 2017, too. When the news channels were covering that eclipse, they talked about this one. So, I’ve been waiting for a long time! I’m glad your boys were able to see it.

      Thanks, Mireille!

  7. Thank you so much for the honor and featuring of my Decadent Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream recipe. and for hosting, Marsha and team for having me over. My entries are #50+51. Feel free to join SSPS Linkup M-S: https://esmesalon.com/tag/seniorsalonpitstop/

  8. Seeing the eclipse was a wonderful experience. Here in South Carolina it was at 80% but totality in 2017. It makes me wonder what ancient people thought when they viewed an eclipse. Thanks so much for the feature on “Gathering Baskets”. I love posting on your site with so many other creative bloggers and being featured is very exciting. Hope you have a wonderful week.

    • Thank you, Lynne! You and I were opposites…we had a partial in 2017! I always wondered, when I’d read about how eclipses created uproar and religious “experiences,” how that could happen. I now know. It’s just such an amazing sight. I’m so glad you join us each week, Lynne. I always comment on your blog, but I’ve noticed my comments don’t always show up. I’m wondering if WordPress isn’t having some issues as people have told me they’ve commented on mine and not seen them. Or, that mine shows up several days later. Anyway, I just wanted you to know!

  9. The eclipse looked amazing from the footage I saw on the news, I’m glad you were able to see it! We had a total eclipse in the UK in 1999 – I was rushing to get a flight so couldn’t enjoy it, although it was very cloudy anyway. Hopefully I’ll get to see one properly one day!

    • Emma, it was one of the most awesome sights I’ve ever seen. It was just amazing. I would love to see another one someday!

      Thanks, Emma!

  10. Glad that you saw the eclipse. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

    • Thank you, Patrick! It honestly was an amazing sight. I’m so glad you link up with us. Have a marvelous week!
