If you read my Style Imitating Art post, you already know I love William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s work. If you want to read that post with all the info and more information about my look, you can find it here. And, my post about my graduation tour is coming, I promise! The three interpretations are so different and yet so perfect, so without further ado, here we go!

Gallery of style…
First up is Salazar! She says, ” I struggled with this a bit because I don’t have anything in that particular shade of purple, but in the end, I went with this purple top and this skirt, because the red flowers embroidered around the hem remind me of the girl’s wreath, and there is a bit of white in the painting too (in the girl’s blouse). I paired them with my strappy heels as a nod to the girl’s striped skirt. It’s not perfect, but I’m happy with it.” Surprisingly, Salazar didn’t wear a brooch!

Shelbee has a magical closet where she seems to find the perfect elements for any style challenge. This time, though, she actually had to wait for a new purple dress to appear. It came just in time! She says, “I wore a new purple sundress which isn’t the right shade of purple but I surprisingly don’t have a lot of purple in my closet. I wish I had more! I layered it beneath a black robe with purple and white stripes to represent the striped portion of the girl’s skirt. I added white accessories to reflect her white top. Since I didn’t have a crown of red flowers, I wore my white cowgirl hat with pink roses instead.” Shelbee was going to try to create a real flower crown, but there’s a bouquet bandit in her neighborhood…a deer!

And, finally, here is my look. I wore a vintage April Cornell (yes, it’s that old) over a Gudrun Sjoden slip, added a white Old Navy tee, and tied it all together with a black obi belt.

And, that’s a wrap for this Gallery of Style!
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Gallery of Style for Style Imitating Art…thank you to Sally, Salazar, and Shelbee for participating. Remember, you don’t have to have a blog to be a part of this style challenge. You can send a photo to the curator to be included in the gallery of style! We’d love to have more people join in! You can also still send me a photo, and I’ll edit the post to include you!
Coming up…
I hope you’ll come back next Monday to see the art work we’ll be styling and imitating! And, please visit all of the people who participated in this week’s challenge!

These are all great interpretations. Well done ladies.
Thanks, Rosie! I think everyone came up with their own looks that worked for them!
I love the collage photo as its so matchy matchy. You know how I love that. Your skirt is amazing! And indeed….I miss a brooche!
Thanks, Nancy! I do love matchy matchy, too! And, I was surprised Salazar didn’t have a brooch for this one, too!
Very enjoyable ‘parade’. Great outfits all round. Thanks everyone.
Thank you so much, Mary! They really worked well, didn’t they?
I love this painting so much and the outfits are all great, too! So much fun!
Shelbee
Thanks, Shelbee! I love it, too, but wait until you see the one for my graduation tour!!
This was very fun! I went back to your original post, Marcia, because I genuinely enjoy learning about the artists you feature. (I also wanted to check out if you had carefully positioned your head in front of a door decoration or if you were wearing something IN it, as did the subject. Ha ha.)
All of the interpretations are fun, as usual, but I did think yours was very spot on… ALSO enjoyed Shelby’s very faithful recreation of her pose…I think it is less “interpretive” and more re-creation, but I really added to the fun of the style for me.
FUN, fun, fun from all the style sisters!
Thanks so much, Em! Yes, I’m wearing an actual candle ring on my head! I don’t even know if they make them anymore! I’ve tried, lately, do do an interpretation rather than copying the exact thing. I decided to create outfits I’d actually wear in public! Shelbee does an amazing job finding just the right background for hers! Thanks, again, Em!
You nailed the look, Marsha!
Thank you so much, Allison!
Such pretty purple tones! I rarely think to buy much in purple but you all look lovely.
Thanks, Joanne! It’s so weird because purple is my favorite color, and yet I have so little!
I love seeing the crew all at once this way. Love how the photo can give such great ideas.
XOXO
Jodie
Thanks, Jodie! It really does look cool to see everyone along with the inspiration piece!
